Podiatry & Sports

Every athlete wants to play their sport without complaints, whether you are a recreational or professional athlete.

Sports Podiatry

Preventing and healing injuries

Sports place greater demands on the body's load-bearing capacity. Many athletes sooner or later face injuries or overuse complaints affecting the feet, legs and/or back.

An injury can be caused by multiple factors. Footwear, playing surface and training volume all play a major role. What is often overlooked, however, is the way you walk and move. How do your feet, legs and torso move? The alignment of your feet and legs can be of great importance.

Athletes of all levels are welcome at our practice.

Sparta Rotterdam Partnership

Sports Medical Centre Sparta Rotterdam

Since 1 October 2020 we have an intensive collaboration with SMC Sparta Rotterdam. At "het Kasteel" we work closely with sports physicians, physiotherapists, osteopaths, psychologists and dietitians. This ensures an even more comprehensive treatment of sports-related complaints. We hold consultation hours there every Monday.

Dance podiatry

Dance

There are over 1.3 million dancers in the Netherlands (across all dance disciplines), of whom approximately 3,000 are professional dancers. Dancers place high and specific demands on their bodies. Our expert is Maurice van Houten.

Dancers are vulnerable to injuries. During the podiatric examination, we assess how the foot, leg and torso move and what happens to the muscles and joints during dancing.

Pain in the big toe joint during releve, a painful forefoot when landing from a jump, excessive callus formation or nail problems can seriously affect the joy of dancing. A blockage or disruption in the kinetic chain combined with a growth spurt in children can also cause heel and/or knee complaints. Approximately 85% of children with these complaints can dance pain-free again within a few weeks with podiatric treatment. Our expert is Lilianne van Houten.

Field hockey and running podiatry

Field Hockey and Running

In addition to the specialisms mentioned above, our podiatrists focus on the functional application of (sports) podiatric methods and techniques for sports-related issues. This could include simple adjustments in a hockey shoe, running shoe or whichever sports shoe is relevant to you.
